Connections Throughout the AEU
At its bi-monthly meetings, the AEU Board will be reviving a lapsed practice of a go-round in which each board member gives status updates on two or three Societies. The status updates anticipated will be a kind of miniature (not necessarily more than two or three sentences) annual Society report, and can include whatever the Society believes is important - membership increases or decreases, programming & events, financial management & issues, coalitions, joys & concerns. The purposes and expected outcomes of this practice are perhaps best expressed in the AEU's mission statement: “The American Ethical Union, a religious organization, is a federation of Ethical Societies, which promotes the growth of the Ethical Culture Movement by supporting existing Ethical Societies and fostering new ones.” Within the next few weeks, AEU Board members will be in touch with Societies to forge these liaisons. Let’s all work together to build on-going connections between the Societies and the national Board to inform ourselves, on a regular basis, of the health and needs of our Societies and to assist the Board in its responsiveness to, and in its ability to serve, our Societies.
