NYSEC is Honored by Councilman Van Bramer

Law'nence Miller
Board Trustee, New York Society for Ethical Culture
Director of Administration, American Ethical Union

New York Society for Ethical Culture's Social Service Board is dedicated to "Empowering Caring People to Turn Ethics into Action". Participation in the the Board not only offers hope and assistance to people in need, but also offers immeasurable benefit for those who volunteer. One great example of their work is the youth soccer program in Queens they sponsor. The LA Liga Soccer program is designed to build world peace, one kick at a time. Henry Bunch, a member of NYSEC's Social Service Board, has dedicated his time and energy to the program, along with other members of NYSEC and generous financial backing from the Society. The teams participate in the Annual World Peace Games which take place each September near the site of the first home of the United Nations in Flushing Meadows Park, Queens.

At the 2011 Annual World Peace Games, Henry Bunch was honored with a Proclamation by Queens Councilman Jimmy Van Bramer and the New York Speaker Christine Quinn for his contributions to the LA Liga Soccer program.

Henry Bunch was also selected to be NY1's New Yorker of the Week for his tireless, year round coaching of teenagers from immigrant and underprivileged families. According to Henry, himself an immigrant from Colombia, his soccer program keeps the 14-16 year old players off the streets while teaching them leadership, values, and good sportsmanship. Getting along with each other is a vital step in building peace.
