Love, Logic, and Ethics!

Aimee Neumann
Director of Religious Education

How do we cultivate loving children, who think critically with grounding in Ethics? We will explore our practice and develop skills as parents, teachers, and religious educators. We come together for community, mutual support, and learning. Join us! Register online.

Once a year, people interested in Ethical Religious Education gather for professional development to learn, share, and grow together. This year, we will look at the synergy between love, logic, and how we nurture ethical children. Our exploration will juxtapose love and logic with our Ethical Core Values. Teachers and Directors of Religious Education (DRE) will be trained in our Ethical Core Values and invited to consider the role of love and logic in developing those values in our children. Families can incorporate the principles of love and logic in their ethical parenting.

Happy participants of RE Conference 2011

Our weekend begins with a drum circle and cooperative games led by Alan Berger, former DRE of the Queens Society. DREs, teachers, and parents will have their own opportunities to meet together and share what is going well, areas in which they need help, and questions they have. We can support and learn from each other! There will be a presentation on the American Ethical Union (AEU) Lay Leadership Summer School and we will be able to learn from those who have attended this unique opportunity to delve into Ethical history in an intense way, in a beautiful mountain setting.

On Sunday we look forward to a colloquy on making choices and an intergenerational platform led by our new AEU Executive Director, Bart Worden. For many DREs, teachers, and Sunday School parents, this is their once a year opportunity to attend colloquy and platform!

A children's program runs concurrent to the adult programming, interspersed with inter-generational activities where we all come together, such as yoga and the scavenger hunt.

The food is delicious, the setting is inspiring, and the camaraderie is unsurpassed. I hope to see you there.

If you are not able to attend the conference, talk with the DRE/Leader/President at your Society to see who can be supported in attending.
