EHSLI Bullying Workshop
Several families from the Ethical Humanist Society of Long Island attended the Bullying Workshop on Sunday, October 24 at EHSLI. Part of an Intergenerational Platform, the timely, thought-provoking workshop was presented by Betty Gross and Ellen Birnbaum, CAP. (Child Abuse Prevention).
Both adults and children from the EHSLI, Bergen, Brooklyn and Westchester Ethical communities participated. Children from EHSLI performed a skit and a song, "Don't Laugh at Me." More than twenty children (ages 5-12) participated in two different groups. Many chose to share important personal stories about the challenges of peer pressure. One of the youngest students spoke of a major victory in transforming a taunting schoolmate into a bus buddy! The workshop was followed by a pizza lunch.
