AEU ASKS U.S. SENATE TO RATIFY GENOCIDE CONVENTION

WHEREAS, the United Nations Convention Against Genocide formally came into force on January 12, 1951; and

WHEREAS, the United States has taken the lead in prosecuting former enemies of the United Nations adjudged guilty of genocide; and

WHEREAS, the United States will surrender that leadership unless we join the ranks of those nations who have thus formally placed themselves on record against this heinous crime; and

WHEREAS, the United States has signed the Convention;

THEREFORE, the American Ethical Union calls upon the Senate of the United States to consent to the ratification of the Convention as soon as possible.
