AEU REAFFIRMS ITS SUPPORT ON TENTH ANNIVERSARY OF DECLARATION OF HUMAN RIGHTS

WHEREAS The American Ethical Union is mindful of the global importance of the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights and endorses the Resolution of the IHEU Congress of July, 1957, which requests the observance and promotion of the Declaration during this year of 1958 -- the tenth anniversary of its adoption and proclamation -- in order to deepen universal interest in its provisions and their realization,

THEREFORE The American Ethical Union resolves, during 1958, to publicize the Declaration, to promote its study, and to encourage meetings to spread knowledge of its provisions and of ways progressively to realize them among men,

T0 THE END THAT, the United States continue to be a leading upholder of the principles embodied in the Declaration which it so largely helped to frame.
