AEU SUPPORTS U.N. FREEDOM FROM HUNGER CAMPAIGNS

WHEREAS widespread hunger exists in many areas of the world, in spite of the large food surpluses in other areas, and

WHEREAS the Food and Agricultural Organization (FAA) has in progress a Freedom from Hunger campaign and a World Food Program, and

WHEREAS there is now the opportunity for Nations, Governmental and non-Governmental organizations and individuals to participate in these efforts,

BE IT THEREFORE RESOLVED that members of the Ethical Movement, believing that people should live together in peace and freedom, and in an environment in which they can best develop their physical, mental and spiritual potentials, heartily endorse the UN Freedom from Hunger campaign, the World Food Program and the US Food for Peace plan.

Furthermore it is recommended that the AEU cooperate with the United States National Committee and the United States Food for Peace by supporting projects chosen because they are of special interest to the AEU.

Moreover the AEU, as a member of the IHEU, which is one of the international non-governmental organizations pledged to support the FAO Freedom from Hunger campaign, affirms its support of such action of the IHEU, and registers its determination to further the program through its own member groups.
