The American Ethical Union affirms that war violates the humanist ethical principles of reverence for personality and loyalty to the human community We respect the pacifist ideal and pledge our strong support of all young men who make personal decisions to become conscientious objectors on the grounds of humanist ethical and religious principles.

We ask every member to give serious consideration -to this position in arriving at his own personal conscientious decision.

We urge our Sunday Schools stimulate students to make intelligent personal decisions and be guided ultimately by the dictates of their own consciences.
