RECOGNITION AND AID FOR BANGLA DESH

WHEREAS, the nation of Bangla Desh has won its independence from Pakistan after a period of bloody repression and appears to have established a viable government; and

WHEREAS, all economic aid from the United States has been cut off to India, Pakistan, and Bangla Desh, and these countries have areas of extreme poverty and suffering;

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED, that the American Ethical Union urges the United States government to resume economic, but not military, aid to Pakistan and India, and to begin giving economic aid to Bangla Desh.
