The American Ethical Union at this time strongly reiterates the statement made by the Board of Leaders of the New York Society for Ethical Culture regarding busing of children as necessary to accomplish integration in education, which statement (attached) was adopted as a resolution by this organization at its annual assembly in April 1972.
Since the passage of that resolution, the administration of the United States Government has further flouted the principle set forth in the famous case of Brown. vs. Board of Education (that separate education is inherently unequal) by urging the courts and citizens to refuse to use the busing of children as a tool to achieve integration.
The American Ethical Union believes that the statement enunciated by the Leaders is most applicable at this time.
