PUBLIC HOUSING

WHEREAS, we believe that every human being, regardless of race, creed, national origin, or economic status, is entitled to decent living conditions, and all children (who have no control over the economic conditions of the family into which they are born) have a right to grow up in a livable environment, and

WHEREAS, serious problems exist in most major cities with regard to adequate housing for low and moderate income families, especially those belonging to minority groups, and

WHEREAS, private builders are not providing low and moderate cost housing units to meet the tremendous need,

THEREFORE, be it resolved, that government (federal, state and local) has the responsibility for insuring that adequate housing is available for all its citizens.
