TO MAKE THE PETROLEUM INDUSTRY A PUBLIC UTILITY

WHEREAS, the proper allocation and responsible pricing of petroleum and petroleum by-products at the control of private corporations has not shown itself in the best interest of the nation's consumers and national economy,

WHEREAS, the electric and natural gas industries as well as other limited resources have been controlled in a relatively .successful fashion through energetic government commissions,

THEREFORE, be it resolved the American Ethical Union initiate and actively support legislation to bring about a restructure of the petroleum industry to the status of a regulated public utility.
