The American Ethical Union and the National Women's Conference of the American Ethical Union,

Conscious of the many efforts to combat and eliminate racial discrimination, and

Aware that much more effective action is needed to achieve the elimination of discriminatory injustices and restrictions,

Affirms the adoption by the United Nations of 1974-1983 as a Decade against Racism and Racial Discrimination;

Urges the United States government to ratify the International Convention on the Elimination of All Forms of Racial Discrimination;

to implement measures in the economic, social, cultural, and political fields that will ensure the full equality to all individuals;

to urge the inclusion, in formal and non-formal education programs, of the subject of human rights and non-discrimination; and

Resolves, in the spirit of the Ethical Humanist movement, to follow the intent and objectives of the Decade to Combat Racism and Racial Discrimination
