WHEREAS, it is the responsibility of Government to protect the rights of every individual to a low-cost nutritional diet,

WHEREAS, the consolidation of farms into agribusinesses and the control of the food industry by a handful of food monopolies has not benefited the consumer with a greater availability of better food at lower prices,

WHEREAS, the Federal Government does not adequately protect the interest of the consumer in the food market place,

THEREFORE, be it resolved that the American Ethical Union calls on the Federal Government to enforce anti-trust laws against the food industry and regulate the production and distribution of food as a basic industry through price and quality controls on every phase of the food industry.
