SOCIAL CONCERNS

WHEREAS, in this period of acute and rising unemployment, serious lack of housing, mounting health costs, critical inflation, and neglected social services and educational needs, the American Ethical Union deplores the inadequate and even callous response on the part of the Executive branch of our Federal government, and

WHEREAS, the administration continues to focus on high military expenditures and continues its opposition to reform of the inequities of the tax structure.

THEREFORE, we urge restructuring priorities from high-level military appropriation to these areas of social concern: more jobs, national health insurance, education, housing, food programs for those in need, efforts to curb inflation and meaningful funding of other social services.
