FOOD STAMPS Millions of Americans are financially unable to provide for their own nutritional needs. Government subsidies in some form are urgently required to ensure access to an adequate diet. The American Ethical Union therefore opposes termination of the food stamp system. The AEU urges revision of the existing program to eliminate the cash purchase requirement and to establish equitable eligibility criteria. Based on resolution originally submitted by the Brooklyn Society for Ethical Culture.
