GOVERNMENT ROLE IN MILITARIZATION OF CENTRAL AMERICA

WHEREAS, the United States Government has steadily increased the presence of military advisors in El Salvador, Honduras and Guatemala;

WHEREAS, the United States Government has steadily increased covert operations throughout Central America, notably the C.I.A. activity in Nicaragua;

WHEREAS, the Government of the United States by these policies supports oppression and violence in Central America:

NOW, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The American Ethical Union deplores our Government's role in the militarization of Central America and calls for an end to all military aid and intervention - covert and otherwise - in Central America by the United States Government.
