1983: NUCLEAR ENERGY PLANTS 1983 - 75th NATIONAL AEU ASSEMBLY

NUCLEAR ENERGY PLANTS

WHEREAS, no workable evacuation plan in case of accident has been developed for many nuclear power plants in the United States, and

WHEREAS, no safe method of disposal for nuclear waste from nuclear power plants has been developed,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The American Ethical Union opposes the continued operation of such nuclear power plants,

FURTHER,

The American Ethical Union opposes any new construction of nuclear power plants without such safety guarantees,

AND FURTHER THAT,

The American Ethical Union calls for an intensive program to develop practical alternative methods of energy generation.
