MUTUAL FREEZE WHEREAS, the continuing arms race threatens all life on earth, and WHEREAS, the current United States-Soviet negotiations in Geneva may take years, during which escalation will probably continue, and WHEREAS, the Soviet Union has proposed a ban on research and development of space weapons, which the United States rejected, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The American Ethical Union urges the Administration to propose to a mutual verifiable freeze on missile deployment and space weapon development, as a first step to an early agreement to freeze all nuclear weapons during negotiations. Adopted by the American Ethical Union Assembly at the Philadelphia Society, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, 1985.
