UNITED NATIONS FUND FOR POPULATION ACTIVITIES WHEREAS, following a White House directive, $10,000,000 was withheld from funding for 1985 to the United Nations Fund for Population Activities (UNFPA), and, WHEREAS, the purpose of UNFPA is to deal with needs in population and family planning, maternal and child health and population problems in both developed and developing countries, and, WHEREAS, poverty and rapid population growth reinforce each other and the threatened enormous increase in population on this resource-limited planet will create tremendous problems, THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT: The American Ethical Union urges the Congress of the United States to reinstate the funds withheld from UNFPA. Adopted by the American Ethical Union Assembly at the Philadelphia Society, Philadelphia Pennsylvania, 1985.
