DEALING WITH THE OZONE DEPLETION

WHEREAS, recent scientific work has shown dangerous, continuing depletion of the ozone layer protecting the earth from cancer causing radiation; and

WHEREAS, this depletion is caused by certain industrial and commercial practices,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

  1. the American Ethical Union urges our government to promote international cooperation in order to cope with this threat to our globe; and

  2. the American Ethical Union urges our national and state legislatures to support research, as a basis for promulgating appropriate legislation to eliminate practices that lead to further ozone depletion and atmospheric degradation.
