REACTIVATING THE BOYCOTT OF NESTLE AND AMERICAN HOME PRODUCTS

WHEREAS, The dangerous marketing practices of Nestle and American Home Products (AHP) for their infant formulas results in millions of babies all over the world dying needlessly from bottle feeding, and

WHEREAS, Nestle and AHP -- the two outstanding offenders -- in addition to others, persist in disregarding their public commitment by continuing to violate international marketing restrictions in the name of profit and at the expense of children's lives, for example, by systematically distributing free-of-charge huge quantities of infant formula in hospitals and maternity wards around the world, which prevents the establishment of breast feeding and results in infant malnutrition, disease, and death,

THEREFORE, BE IT RESOLVED THAT:

The American Ethical Union, in order to stop this tragedy, joins thousands of consumers from over twenty countries in a boycott of the products of Nestle and AHP, thus sending a message to these companies that business or profits at the expense of human lives will not be tolerated.
