AEU Deplores Outbreaks Caused by Racial and Religious Intolerance
Submitted to and Passed by the AEU Assembly, which was convened in Brooklyn, NY
The American Ethical Union deplores the violent outbreaks which have recently occurred in various parts of the United States against places of worship, public buildings, and private homes. These outbreaks are evidence of continuing religious and racial intolerance and are contrary to our principles of brotherhood, human dignity, and individual worth. We urge that all appropriate local, state, and federal government agencies actively concern themselves with preventing such violence.
We shall do all in our power to cooperate with other groups in the effort to bring about an attitude of appreciation and respect for human rights.
We recommend that our Public Affairs Committees, both national and local, seriously consider suitable effective action to implement this resolution.
