2011 – Military Chaplaincy

30 Jun 2011
Jake Ritter
Resolutions

Submitted to and Passed at the 96th AEU Assembly

Whereas, the American Ethical Union is desirous of expanding its existing College and Health Care Chaplaincy Programs into other areas; and

Whereas, the American Ethical Union is willing to support any Certified Leader who becomes a Military Chaplain; and

Whereas, the American Ethical Union is willing to support any Military Chaplain who wants to change his or her denomination to Ethical Culture conditioned upon that person’s proper training and certification; and

Whereas, the American Ethical Union is willing to invite our National Leaders Council to develop materials that would assist Military Chaplains to minister to the needs of nontheistic members of the military.

Now Therefore Be It Resolved, that, in furtherance of those goals, the American Ethical Union authorizes the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers to utilize the American Ethical Union as its sponsoring organization to initiate such a Military Chaplaincy Program; and

Be It Further Resolved, that the authority hereby granted is revocable by the American Ethical Union at any time and for any reason without either notice or cause.
