The ERA is a proposed amendment to the United States Constitution that would expressly prohibit discrimination against girls and women on the basis of sex. We will bring the experience and wisdom of veteran activists together with the energy and social media skills of a new generation to build a successful coalition effort for passage and ratification of the ERA.

Humanists International (formerly International Humanist and Ethical Union or IHEU) is the global representative body of the humanist movement, uniting a diversity of non-religious organisations and individuals. They want everyone to live a life of dignity in a world where universal human rights are respected and protected, and where states uphold secularism. The American Ethical Union was one of five Humanist organisations — including the American Humanist Association, British Ethical Union (later the British Humanist Association and now Humanists UK), Vienna Ethical Society, and the Dutch Humanist league — to host its inaugural congress in Amsterdam, 22–27 August 1952. On the last day of the congress five resolutions were passed, which included a statement of the fundamentals of “modern, ethical Humanism”, a resolution which would come to be known as the Amsterdam Declaration.

Campaigns & Movements

The Know Your Neighbor: Multifaith Encounters (KYN-ME) campaign is a program of the Islamic Networks Group (ING) whose mission is to increase religious literacy and build relations among Americans of all backgrounds. First initiated in partnership with the White House in 2015, the KYN-ME campaign aims to build interreligious and intercultural understanding, empathy, and respect by promoting face-to-face encounter between people of diverse faiths and worldviews.
Facebook

Openly Secular is a campaign by a coalition of more than two dozen secular organizations across the country with the mission to end discrimination and increase acceptance by getting secular people—including atheists, freethinkers, agnostics, humanists, and nonreligious people—to be open about their beliefs. They envision a world where families and communities remain whole when some members have moved away from religion or supernaturalism.

AEU Statement Regarding the Events of January 6thYesterday, we watched in shock and horror as a violent mob attacked the US Capitol, forcing their way inside and occupying areas of the building for hours in an attempt to disrupt the certification of electoral votes submitted by the states. By the end of the day, 4 people were dead, 52 members of the seditious mob were arrested, and 14 police officers were injured. It took the assistance of many additional federal law enforcement personnel and the National Guard to remove the attackers from the Capitol and clear the way for the Joint Congress to resume its work.Fortunately, the Joint Congress was resolute and refused to let the interruption derail our democracy, working through the night to certify the electoral vote counts for all of the states. However, this episode was an attack on democracy itself, instigated by a sitting president whose actions have severely undermined respect for and trust in the very system that put him in office. Mr. Trump has shown only contempt for the democratic process and is a danger to our country. People who are in a position to remove Mr. Trump from office ought to proceed in haste as this president has repeatedly shown readiness to incite violence and mayhem, and also continues to demonstrate an obsession with the electoral results to the seeming exclusion of other national concerns. Our democratic system of government must be protected from his influence. As Ethical Humanists, we are called upon to repudiate the anti-democratic tendencies that have gained an unwelcome foothold in public life. Our country will need us to elicit the best from one another and ourselves in the months and years to come.#Jan6 #ethicalhumanism ow.ly/uxes50D2Gzn ... See MoreSee Less
