This Week July 4, 2021

The AEU Assembly Committee thought it a good idea to have a bit of a break for the July 4th holiday weekend and I hope you found some opportunities for rest and restoration. 4th of July is a holiday that would often go unnoticed in my household were it not for the fireworks and their impact on our dog, Chickpea, who frantically looks for a spot that feels safe to her and cannot be comforted. Our other dog, Mo, is apparently deaf enough that he doesn’t seem affected at all and our temp dog, Todd, is somewhere in the middle (I think he mostly doesn’t want to let on that he is bothered by the noise.)

My personal 4th of July was an occasion for a Sunday Platform meeting at the Ethical Culture Society of Westchester that had both in-person and Zoom participants. I had been wrestling with the technology for weeks and finally had the confidence to host a full meeting the brought Zoom participants into the Meeting Room and brought Meeting Room participants into Zoom. It CAN be done (thankfully) and so far people seem okay with the in-person/Zoom mix. We will continue to tinker with our setup – if you or your Society would like to know more about it I’ll be making a user guide available in the next week or so.

We’re heading into Week 5 and have 2 events to join between now and Sunday and you can check out the offerings below. If you missed any of last week’s events and would like to view them, Anna has made videos available for each session.

Here’s the list of last week’s presentations:

Tuesday, June 29th, 8pm – 9:30pm ET: “Polarity Management” with Jone Johnson Lewis and Bart Worden –  Watch on youtube here!

A reminder: if are you a Delegate to the Assembly this year you may want to check out this link to the Slideshow  and the Partial Recording from the June 5th Delegate Training

Back to this week’s events. Please remember that you can view all of these events on the aeu.org website’s 2021 Assembly Calendar and links to the events are on the AEU Connections calendar so you can grab the Zoom link you’ll need when you need it.

Wednesday, July 7, 8:00pm – 9:30pm ET: Pre-Business Meeting: Meet the Board Candidates  with the Chair of the AEU Board Development Committee, Sue Walton – http://bit.ly/AEUAssemblySessions

Saturday, July 10, 4:00pm – 5:30pm ET: Pre-Business Meeting: Resolutions with the President of the AEU Board of Directors, Sonja Kueppers – http://bit.ly/AEUAssemblySessions

Hope to see you Wednesday and/or Saturday this week!
