Submitted to the AEU 63rd Assembly

The American Ethical Union recommends the establishment by the U.S. government of a rational land and resources use policy to plan, develop and control urban growth, prevent the waste of natural resources, protect scenic and unique natural areas and preserve native wild life.

The bases of this resolution are:

1) The surface of the earth is finite in extent and habitable areas are limited.

2) The uncontrolled increase of human population will overwhelm resources.

3) The uncontrolled exploitation of land and water and the resources therein is irreversibly disturbing the ecology and endangering the continued existence of both human and animal life on this earth.

4) The unplanned development of living space is degrading to human existence.
