Education: A Vehicle for Change

Posted on 28 Feb 2018

Cecilia Liss, Academic Director of Waldorf School of Baltimore, spoke on January 7, 2018 at the Baltimore Ethical Society about “Education: A Vehicle for Change.”

There is a growing realization about the importance of instilling a sense of wonder, awe, and appreciation for the natural world, and the ethical values of human beings in childhood, for children’s long-term intellectual curiosity, emotional resiliency, and academic success.

Cecilia Liss delves into what is at the heart of these experientially based, developmentally appropriate methods that makes them ideal for fostering a lifetime of enthusiastic and engaged learning, and moral awareness and responsibility.

Cecilia Liss earned her BA in History and Business from the University of Arizona, and a MEd and Waldorf Teaching Certificate from Antioch New England Graduate School. She worked at the Waldorf School of Baltimore (WSB) as a Class Teacher, Resource Room Teacher, and Admissions Director from 1985-2007. Before returning to WSB in 2015, she was the Manager of Student Services for a Pre-K – Grade 8 homeschool curriculum provider. She managed and trained a team of teachers to support families and students to ensure successful completion of the academic programs. Cecilia’s two daughters graduated from WSB.
