Congrats Jé Exodus Hooper! We love being a part of your journey.COLORING SPACES TOGETHER: MINISTRY IN COLOR
I want to offer a proper thank you to First Unitarian Society of Minneapolis, especially to Rev. Jim Foti, Rev. Kelli Clement, and last but not not least Rev. Dr. David Breeden. I have never felt more at home within the Humanist Movement! I cannot thank you enough for seeing my ministry as valuable, vital, and a part of the larger whole.
It is truly an honor, especially when the 'religio-racial identity' of Humanist congregations are led by predominately straight white ministers. Nonetheless, I am grateful to be affiliated as a queer person of color, who is able to serve as Humanist Clergy. FUS let's continue to color these bland spaces together!
Also, special thank you to Randy Best and efforts of American Ethical Union and it's Leader Training Committee that made it possible for me to intern at FUS, it was transformational for me and the work still to this day feel like a dream. Minneapolis is still a dream --the level of congregational team work, idea-flow, and justice doing (I get excited just thinking about it).
Background history: This Society is explicitly a 'mother hub' of Humanist congregation in Unitarian Universalist Movement that was established by John H. Deitrich, the 'Father of Religious Humanism'. ... See MoreSee Less
