Introducing Audrey Kindred, Ethical Culture Leader Candidate

The AEU Leadership Committee is pleased to announce that Audrey Kindred has been admitted into our Leader Training program. The Leadership Committee is currently identifying funding sources to increase our capacity to train Ethical Culture Leaders and offer a series of courses to AEU members. In the meantime, you are invited to participate in We Are Ethical Culture, an Ethical Culture identity course, taught by Louise Jett. Audrey Kindred is pursuing Leadership training after 25 years in the Ethical movement, leading ethical education programming in two Societies.

Audrey currently chairs the Ethical Education Committee of American Ethical Union, presides over National Ethical Service to represent the Ethical Culture movement at the United Nations, and represents Ethical Humanism on Columbia University and NYU campuses. She serves the New York Society for Ethical Culture as Ethical Education Director, creating programs for children, youth, and families, and producing gatherings, performances, and festivals to inspire intergenerational vigor around values.

She is alum to Bennington College, SUNY Empire State University Master’s Program, Waldorf Elementary Teacher Education at Sunbridge Institute, and American Ethical Union’s Lay Leadership School. She has teacher certifications from Integral Yoga Center, Bent on Learning, and Jillian Pransky’s Restorative Yoga. Audrey also has studied and practiced Compassionate Communication for many years.

Audrey KindredAudrey is the co-author, with Dr. Anne Klaeysen, of a free online course published by the American Humanist Association’s Center for Education called “Humanist Family Life Ceremonies.” Her recent Master’s thesis “Human-I-Tree” centered mindful Climate Justice education, and was shared with Ethical Culture as an All-Societies Platform in December 2023. As a lifelong artist, activist, and learner, she has created many artworks, performance projects and blogs, and she participates in ongoing somatic, artistic, and writing practices.

Through her devotion to humanitarian work, she has contributed toward wonderful organizations, including: Trilok School (Gandhi-an Philosophy education), Movement Research, The Quad School for Twice Exceptional Learners, Bent on Learning (teaching yoga in public schools), and Narcolepsy Network. Audrey’s passion is driven by the quest of how human creativity, intentional embodiment, and intersectional collaboration can shape ethical development on a shared Earth.
