Sentientism Salon – “Sentientism, Activism, and Personal Growth”

16 Feb 2022 | 08:00 pm - 09:30 pm

Join Amy Halpern-Laff, Jamie Woodhouse, and Hugh Taft-Morales for an AEU Salon on Sentientism on February 16th at 8PM Eastern Standard Time. They will explore the opportunities and challenges of Sentientism – an extension of humanism that gives ethical weight to all creatures that have the capacity to experience feelings, sensations, suffering, and prosperity.

Join us for:

  • A brief explanation of Sentientism, a worldview based on evidence, reason, and compassion which expands on secular humanism by giving moral consideration to animals other than humans. Sentientists endeavor to minimize suffering and maximize thriving.
  • Examples of local activism that can advance the values of Sentientism.
  • Discussion of the challenge and opportunities for those striving to apply Sentientist values to their personal eating habits.
  • Questions to the panelists from the audience.
Those who register are encouraged to read this article by presenters Jamie Woodhouse and Amy Halpern-Laff in The Humanist. For more information on Sentientism, check out Jamie’s YouTube presentation on the subject and Hugh’s Ethical Eating platform.
