Howard Feinstein, author of the acclaimed memoir Fire On The Bayou: True Tales From The Civil Rights Battlefront spoke on July 20, 2014 at the Washington Ethical Society about “Civil Rights: Our Legacy and Challenge.”
How we can apply lessons from that struggle as we confront inequality and discrimination today? Howard Feinstein’s experiences took place in a violent world of burning crosses, shotgun blasts, and state-sponsored brutality and intimidation. While today’s challenges may appear less dramatic on the surface, they call on us to exhibit no less a degree of determination and courage.
