Amanda Poppei (Senior Leader) and Zeb Green (Clergy Intern) spoke on October 8, 2017 at the Washington Ethical Society about “Courage to Be Ourselves.” (Click on cloud icon in upper right corner to access page where you can watch Facebook video or listen to SoundCloud podcast. There are 20 seconds on silence during one story.)
We often have to hide parts of our selves, either because they are explicitly unwelcome or because we imagine them to be so. Amanda and Zeb will share stories of the courageous among us, who have found ways to be fully themselves, despite all odds. Music from singer/songwriter LEA.

The American Ethical Union has passed a resolution--Defending the Right to Vote--to "stand up for a democracy that protects our values and our constitutional right to cast our vote." The words of the resolution are contained in the graphic as a reminder of the importance of protecting this precious right. You can also read the resolution at aeu.org/resource/2019-defending-the-right-to-vote/. Please do read it.
The resolution cites many concerns about ways in which our right to vote is being eroded and why it needs to be defended and then points to multiple ways to defend it. Certainly we need to exercise our right to vote at every opportunity, but we also need to work together to ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote can get registered and have convenient access to the ballot.
Where to begin? Anywhere. When to start? Now. What to do? Everything you can.
