Iris Woodard spoke on December 10, 2017 at Northern Virginia Ethical Society about “Learning to Listen.” (Click on cloud icon in upper right corner to be directed to soundcloud site for podcast.)
As Iris says: “Listening to each other is a skill that takes practice. In this platform we will review some of the factors that impact our communication interactions, describe several different listening styles, and list some things we can practice to make our exchanges with others more satisfying.”

The American Ethical Union has passed a resolution--Defending the Right to Vote--to "stand up for a democracy that protects our values and our constitutional right to cast our vote." The words of the resolution are contained in the graphic as a reminder of the importance of protecting this precious right. You can also read the resolution at aeu.org/resource/2019-defending-the-right-to-vote/. Please do read it.
The resolution cites many concerns about ways in which our right to vote is being eroded and why it needs to be defended and then points to multiple ways to defend it. Certainly we need to exercise our right to vote at every opportunity, but we also need to work together to ensure that everyone who is eligible to vote can get registered and have convenient access to the ballot.
Where to begin? Anywhere. When to start? Now. What to do? Everything you can.
