Rob Boston, Director of Communications at Americans United for Separation of Church and State, spoke on February 1, 2015 at the Northern Virginia Ethical Society about “What Do You People Want? A Positive Vision of Secularism.” Note: this platform is an audio file on another site. Click the icon to listen.
Advocates of separation of church and state (and allies in the non-theist community) are often challenged by followers of the religious right to explain what they want or what aspect of U.S. society they would change in both legal and cultural contexts. Rob Boston discusses the ideal secular society that many supporters of church-state separation are working toward. Among the topics covered include how to define religious freedom in a multi-faith, multi-philosophy society.
