1960 – Abolition of Capital Punishment Advocated
Submitted to and Passed at 53rd AEU Assembly, which convened in Philadelphia
Because we believe in the worth of every human personality and are, therefore, opposed to Capital Punishment, we call upon the legislatures in all states in which the death penalty prevails and upon the Congress of the United States to pass legislation repealing to appoint special commissions to study and hold public hearings on this question. We further urge those of our membership who are interested, to work with the committees to advocate the abolition of Capital Punishment.
