Whereas, discrimination against any group of citizens is unethical and weakens the moral stature of our nation; and

Whereas, the American Ethical Union has passed specific resolutions condemning discrimination on the basis of race, creed, color and national origin but has not passed any resolution condemning discrimination on the basis of sex;

Therefore Be It Resolved, that the American Ethical Union is opposed to discrimination against any individual on the basis of sex;

Be It Further Resolved, that the American Ethical Union supports the passage of an Equal Rights Amendment to the Constitution forbidding unequal treatment of citizens because of their sex.
