2024 AEU Assembly Assessment

You are invited to share your experience of the 2024 Assembly to help make participation at future Assemblies more worthwhile and enjoyable. The full survey may take about 15 minutes, depending on how much detail you provide.

Your feedback will be reviewed by Khandra Sears, Trang Duong, and Greg Bonin for the purpose of providing a summative report to the Union’s Board of Directors and the Assembly Committee.

The assessment will close on September 1, 2024.

2024 AEU Business Meeting Results

The 2024 AEU Business Meeting was held on Sunday, July 28, 9:00 AM Central Time / 10:00 AM Eastern Time. It was free and open to all AEU members, and participation was limited to Assembly delegates.

The Assembly considered the FY25 budget, AEU Board of Director officer elections, and several AEU bylaws amendments. The results of those votes follow.

2024-2025 Budget

The Finance Committee drafted a proposed FY25 budget, reviewed the budget and solicited feedback, then submitted a final proposal incorporating that feedback.

Board Officer Elections

The Board Development Committee solicited nominations for officers from the general membership, recruiting candidates to present to the Assembly. A Candidates Forum provided members with an opportunity to ask questions and learn more about each candidate. All candidates were unopposed.

The following candidates (in alphabetical order) were elected for 2-year terms*:

     Stan Horwitz – Vice President

     Elizabeth Singer – Treasurer

The following candidates were elected to a 1-year term:

     Rhiannon Johnson – Secretary

     Khandra Sears – President

* The Officer Term Limit Extension Bylaw Amendment extended these offices to two years.

 

2024 Bylaws Amendments

Bylaw amendments require both a majority of delegates to approve as well as a majority of Societies to approve. Union members were invited to review each bylaw amendment and provide feedback on July 25, 2024. The deadline for final amendment revisions was July 20, 2024. All amendments appearing on the Business Meeting agenda were provided to Assembly delegates on July 23, 2024.
